Warrior Nation member, and Russell Latapy worshipper, Gary “Big Magician” Hector is on tour in the UK with his band jointpop. Here is some media coverage from their Speak Slowly Tour as the make their way from England to Scotland (current home of the Little Magician).
jointpop
JOINTPOP will be the first rock band from Trinidad to tour Scotland and they just can’t wait. The band are aiming to follow in the footsteps of their pal and Trinidad’s top sports star, Falkirk and ex-Rangers football star Russell Latapy. Singer Gary Hector, 45, said: “Rock ’n roll is what turned us on, it made us pick up our instruments and make music.

“We’re pretty big in Trinidad but it’s a really small island, so we have to get out and show the world what we can do. “Rock ’n roll and indie music is still an underground thing here because you’re up against reggae and calypso. “So it was a big deal when a band like us got played on the radio and ended up on television.

Brent Sancho Web Chat

Log on to thewarriornation.com on Wednesday July 9th 2008 at 7 PM (EST) for a live WebChat with one of Trinidad and Tobago’s defenders, Brent Sancho. Considered by many in the T&T football fraternity as the missing piece in the puzzle that makes up the current T&T defensive line, Brent’s football career has been filled with all the makings of a graphic novel. From his troubled times at Gillingham FC to being blacklisted for his involvement in the impasse between the World Cup Warriors and the TTFF over unpaid bonuses, the controversial aspects of Sancho’s career may seem to have overshadowed the positive ones. However, in true Warrior fashion the 31 year old veteran defender has not let his negative experiences get the better of him and is fervently forging a path back to first team action for both Club and Country.

Dog on the Rock
Written by Joann Charles

In September 2007, I showed Marvin Andrews’ DVD, With God All Things are Possible, to my church's Youth Group. At the end of the viewing, I vowed to get Marvin to visit the Morvant Open Bible Church on the Rock and speak to the Youth Group the next time he was in the country. James 2:20 reads “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”. Using that as my impetus, I attempted to contact Marvin through the Raith Rovers Fan club, but I was put in touch with one of his associates. Funnily enough, the associate thought that I wanted a copy of the DVD. After correcting her assumption and making the request for Marvin's presence at the church, the waiting game began.

WARRIOR NATION INTERVIEW: Kelvin Jack

Kelvin Jack
A candid conversation with the hardworking goalkeeper and foundation member of FPATT.

On my first visit to London, I took a break from the Euro 2008 action to meet up with erstwhile blacklisted Soca Warriors goalkeeper Kelvin Jack. Though we initially had a mix up in communication, Kelvin picked me up at the Woolwich Arsenal train station, and we headed to the lobby of the Express By Holiday Inn in Greenwich, near the O2 (Millennium Dome). To my surprise, they had a promotion going on; 4 Becks beers for ₤10. Seeing that deals are hard to come by in London, and Kelvin twisted my arm, I decided to partake of said beverages. Since Kelvin opted for an espresso and a cup of soup, and he does not drink beers, I made out like the proverbial bandit. What was initially slated to be a 45 min-1 hour interview turned into 1 hour and 45 minutes, and could have easily gone on longer if there was not the threat of Kelvin getting a buss head from his wife, and me needing to catch a train back to Central London before service stopped for the night. Kelvin talked about his rise through the ranks of professional football, his role in FPATT (Football Players Association of Trinidad & Tobago), his court battles with the TTFF and agent Mike Berry, and his views on T&T football. The interview took place on Monday, June 16th from about 8:45 PM.
